Siquijor is an island in the Philippines that cannot be missed in my opinion! It’s a small, but magical island that you will fall in love with. Think of a tiny paradise, with enough tourists that you can enjoy yourself and meet people, but not overcrowded so you can truly enjoy the islands beauty. Siquijor is known for having ancient magic and mystical energies, which is why I rank it high on my list of ‘must visit’ islands in the Philippin
You can get to Siquijor by boat from either Cebu, Bohol or Dumaguete, the neighbouring islands. If you are coming from Cebu you can get the ferry from Liloan Port in Santander, which is the easiest route if you are in the south of the island (Oslob, Moalboal etc). If you want to leave from Cebu City the ferry will go via Tagbilaran port in Bohol. And of course if you are in Bohol, you will get a direct ferry from Tagbilaran port in Bohol.
The ferry leaves once a day at 10am from Liloan port, in Santander, Cebu. I would aim to get there at least an hour before, as you cannot pre book your ticket online, it is cash at the ticket office. You also have to make sure you check in 30 mins before departure. There are 2 ports in Siquijor: Siquijor and Larena.
Due to the ferry only leaving once a day from Liloan, many travellers get the ferry to Dumaguete, and then another ferry from Dumaguete to Siquijor as there are a lot more boats and times departing on a daily basis.
Most people head to the island of Bohol after Siquijor, as it’s the neighboring island and easy to get too. Check out my full blog post on Bohol for the best places to stay, and the top things to do!
Bohol is an island located in the south of the Philippines. It’s one of the neighbouring Islands next to Cebu and Siquijor.
The island of Boracay was always described to me as one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is known as a tropical paradise, full of, out of this world resorts, pristine Sandy beaches, and fresh Bluewater. And I was very fortunate to be on the island when I was. They had just…

Palawan Island has become something of a celebrity in recent years. With their outstanding boat tours, crystal clear turquoise oceans, green natured islands, Palawan tourism has boomed. A guide to backpacking Manila, the Philippines Manila is the capital of the Philippines, and it’s where I first flew into from the UK. You will most likely land, and start your adventure in Manila too. I only stayed in Manila for one night when I first arrived. And then again for around 2 nights…
